We started a Sunday series last week at Cross Central looking at the question of where God might be in the midst of difficulty and suffering. Our text is Psalm 34. A Psalm written by David after pretending to suffer mental illness in order to escape harm from an enemy king and whilst being on the run from Saul, the current king of Israel.
Some questions we are asking our church community to discuss in our connect groups include:
Why do things seemingly go wrong when we’re trying to do what’s right?
How do I make sense of bad things happening to good people?
Does pain and suffering have purpose and if so, what might it be?
How do we make helpful meaning out of tough times and trials?
Is God distant or is God closer than we realise?
Does our perspective require recalibration?
What is the importance of community and healthy relationships in the midst of the struggle? Do I have relationships that help or hinder during dark nights of the soul?
Do I have relationships that help or hinder during dark nights of the soul?
Love to hear your feedback on these discussion starters and questions about the topi of where God might be in the midst of situations and circumstances that are painful and filled with discomfort and overwhelm.
